We are seeking a highly motivated and results oriented engineering professional to join the Environmental, Electric, and Engine Controls (ES) Mechanical Engineering (Electronics Packaging) team in Windsor Locks, Connecticut. The successful candidate for the Mechanical Engineering (Electronics Packaging) role will execute mechanical design and analysis activities on aerospace electronics.

Responsibilities will include design conceptualization and 3D modeling, Thermal and structural analysis, material selection, qualification testing, failure root cause and corrective action (RCCA) and production support. The mechanical engineer will be part of a cross-functional IPD team and will be responsible for the development of electronics hardware design from conceptual through final design release to manufacturing. The candidate will need to coordinate multiple projects concurrently while supporting both the production environment and new product development activity.


The position may require occasional travel to various manufacturing and test facilities to support manufacturing and test activities.


**Primary Responsibilities:**


+ Design of all mechanical aspects of electronic controllers

+ Chassis/Enclosure design

+ PWB Design

+ Thermal/Structural Analysis

+ Drafting Support

+ Implement and support Standard Work processes across all programs to deliver consistent results.

+ Work collaboratively with Engineering, Programs, Operations, Quality and Supply Chain to achieve optimal design solutions.

+ Interface with component vendors to develop/choose hardware as necessary.

+ Provide initial and sustaining manufacturing support of new and existing designs

+ Provide ideas for manufacturing process improvements related to quality and cost reduction.

+ Support design changes as necessary for hardware currently in production to resolve obsolescence issues.

+ Support/direct engineering and formal qualification testing on electronics hardware.

+ Self-starter with ability to learn quickly and work independently

+ Ability to work in a team environment

+ Organized with strong attention to detail, while managing multiple priorities

+ Excellent oral and written communication skills

+ Fundamental understanding of mechanical engineering and Structural/ thermal Analysis

+ 3D modeling experience (NX Unigraphics or equivalent 3-D design software)

+ FEA familiarity (Ansys Workbench, NX Simulation, or equivalent)

+ Advanced level skills with Microsoft; Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

+ Experience with Mechanical Packaging and manufacture of electronic components is a plus

+ Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering with 0 - 2 years of experience
